The consumer proposal

An agreement based on what you can actually pay

A consumer proposal is a Canadian partial repayment program under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Your trustee presents your creditors with an offer based on your ability to pay.

One monthly payment

Your unsecured debts are covered by a single, significantly reduced monthly payment.

Up to 5 years

The agreement spans a period of up to 5 years, based on your ability to pay.

An alternative to bankruptcy

You avoid bankruptcy through an agreement governed by law.

Rebuild your credit

Take back control of your finances, with the possibility of rebuilding your credit.

Only a Licensed Insolvency Trustee can administer a consumer proposal. If it does not suit your situation, your trustee will explain the other options provided by law.
